Ministers Search Results
Except for the ADDRESS and DENOMINATION fields the query fields will look for an exact match on that field within the data. Because of the way in which the data is held in the ADDRESS and DENOMINATION fields the search assumes that every search using these two fields are wildcard searches and will return any record where the text is anywhere in the field. The % (percent) and _ (underscore) are used as a wild cards in the rest of the search fields. A common use for the wildcard character is to find records where you may only know part of the full text within a field. This list defines just a few of the ways in which the wild card character may be used.
- If you wish to find all last names such as Johns, Johnson, Johnston you can use a last name query of john%. Finding all records where the last name starts with john.
- If you want last names which end with 'ston' the last name field will contain %ston.
- If you know that the words Jesus and church are in the denomination a query in the denomination field of jesus%church will find it.
- If you are looking for names that are different only in a single character such as, "Brian" and "Bryan" or "Smith" and "Smyth". You can use the _ character as a replacement for the single character that is different like "Br_an" or "Sm_th".
